CDL Major 3: Mook-World Power Rankings

We are 1 day away from the Major three of the 2023 CDL season. It wouldn’t be a proper event if “The People’s Champ” didn’t drop his power rankings before. With roster changes and a tight stage 3-split the hype for this weekend is unmatched. Let’s get to these rankings:
1. ATLANTA FAZE

The strongest search team in the league are your defending champs. Their respawn hasn’t looked as great as always lately. If there is a weakness in this team it’s their control. If they fix their issues on control they’ll be hoisting the trophy on championship Sunday.
2. NEW YORK SUBLINERS

The Major 1 champs had a disappointing Major 2 due to travel issues so take their performance with a grain of salt. They looked strong during stage 3. They need to show up on their Hardpoint matches to make it to Sunday. Hydra is the best SMG in the CDL and could easily see him leading NY to another Major championship.
3. LOS ANGELES THIEVES

The defending world champs are coming off the greatest loser bracket run we’ve seen in CDL history. A close loss to FaZe in Grand Finals is nothing to be ashamed about. Their respawn looks as strong as anyone in the league. If they can avoid an early loss in the tournament I would not be surprised to see them in the Grand Finals again.
4. Seattle Surge

After a disappointing Major 2, Pred and Seattle have been looking amazing during Stage 3. Only dropping one series they are the #1 team in the stage 3 standings. Their weakest game type is control and they have a 3-2 record on Control in stage 3. If they keep up this level of play they’ll be at Grand Finals.
5. Optic Texas

Coming off a top 4 placing at major 2 they decided to make some roster changes. Dropping Illey and bringing in Challengers standout Ghosty. During Stage 3 their control and Search have been shaky. If they can work out the kinks they’ll be the best team in the league. Optic historically performs well during LAN. With a home crowd buff, they could surprise many and make it to championship Sunday.
6. Toronto Ultra

Ultra is a streaky team. They had a great Major 1 but a disappointing Major 2. During Stage 3 they’ve looked very strong on respawn. Their SnD has been their weak point. If they can fix their SnD there’s no telling how far they can go this weekend.
7. BOSTON BREACH

Easily one of the best Control teams and have had an amazing stage 3. Their only series dropped was to FL. They’ve had disappointing performances during Major 1 and 2. If they can translate their stage 3 success to LAN they’ll be a scary team.
8. LOS ANGELES GUERILLAS

With a disappointing MW2 season, they hope to turn things around Major 3. Arcitys is playing with a chip on his shoulder after being dropped from FaZe. Guerillas have an awful Hardpoint. They will need to improve their Hardpoint to have any chance of success this weekend.
9. MINNESOTA ROKKR

They had a good Major 2 and were one series away from Grand Finals. However, they haven’t won’t a single CDL series since then. They are 0-7 in their last 7 series played. Take their recent online performances with a grain of salt. There is a lot of experience on this team, hopefully, they can turn it around this weekend.
10. LAS VEGAS LEGION

With a disappointing season so far this team is slowly improving. Their respawn has been awful this season. However they are a great search team, if they can steal a control or HP in a series they’ll cause some upsets. Clayster and Temp are strong players, let’s see if they can lead this team to a Cinderella run.
11. FLORIDA MUTINEERS

During MW2 the Mutineers have had a disappointing season, to say the least. They’ve been solid on Search and Control, however, their SnD has gotten worse in stage 3. Before they brought in Capsidal and Felo they couldn’t even compete in Hardpoint. They’ve seen an improvement in their HP after the roster changes in stage 3. They will have to rely on their control this weekend and hope to steal some search or HP matches.
12. LONDON ROYAL RAVENS

It’s not crazy to say this is the worst team in the CDL. In stage 3 they’ve only won 1 control match. Their SnD and Hardpoint have improved, but not to the point where they are a threat. They’ll most likely exit the tournament early. However, it would be nice to see them make a deep run.
