CDL Madrid Major – The People’s Champ Power Rankings

Ladies, Gents, and Non-Binary friends, LAN action is finally back. It’s the first CDL international Major in a long time. The action kicks off tomorrow with the winner’s bracket going first. We all know the deal, Major tournament weekend doesn’t start until The People’s Champ drops his rankings. Below I’ll rank the teams and how I think they’ll place this weekend.

1. OpTic Texas

OpTic has not slowed down after losing Pred. Huke is making the most of his 2nd chance on OpTic. Black Ops 6 fits his style as he is one of the best entry subs in the game. I think their only weakness was their Search. However, they’ve looked amazing in that mode the past few weeks.

2. Atlanta FaZe

Everyone was dramatic when they started the season slow. Ever since the minor cup, they’ve looked unbeatable. I think they are even with OpTic in respawn. The tiny terrors look unstoppable at the moment. I think they’ll make it to Grand Finals.

3. Los Angeles Thieves

The honeymoon phase is over for this super team. Their struggles lately have shown some gaps in their game. I think they need some more time to gel together. There is too much firepower on this team to not contend for a championship at every major they go to.

4. Carolina Royal Ravens

I am pleasantly surprised with this squad. They are punching above their weight class so far this year. Slasher has this team playing elite SnD, while Gwinn is making a huge leap in his sophomore year in the league. I think they’ll go far this weekend.

5. Toronto Ultra

This season has gone as good as possible for Toronto. However, I think their 6-1 record does not paint a complete picture. Most of their matches have been against the bottom 6 teams. This isn’t their fault, as you can only play who’s in front of you. Let’s see if they can show the same level of CoD against the elite teams later in the tournament.

6. Boston Breach

Project Snoopy is finally paying dividends. This team has the talent to keep up with anyone. They keep on getting better and making the right plays. This is a scary team I’d want to avoid in bracket play.

7. Vancouver Surge

This is one of the most underrated squads in the league. We finally get a real look at these guys on LAN. They’ve had ping issues, so let’s see if they play better when the ankle weights are taken off.

8. Minnesota ROKKR

This is a streaky team. When they are playing up to their potential, they are scary. However, they can also show up to matches and not shoot back. Let’s see what version of them shows up this weekend.

9. Miami Heretics

I think they need to switch it up here. I like their speed but this iteration of Heretics doesn’t mesh well. I think they’ll get bounced early.

10. Los Angeles Guerillas M8

They just can’t figure it out. They need to make a roster change but I don’t know who needs to go. I think if Asim is around I grab him. It all depends on how they do this weekend, but it’s not looking good for them.

11. Cloud 9 New York

I really thought this roster was going to be scary. But they can’t put a complete series together. Sib would need to play the greatest event of his life if they want any wins this weekend.

12. Las Vegas Falcons

We all know how they event is going to go for them. Let’s hope they can make their match competitive at least.
